Help and installation
Common questions, how installation works during early access, and where to get support.
Questions
What is NexxusOS Desktop?
A personal AI workspace for Windows that brings conversation, memory, documents, browsing, research and supported actions into one application. It runs on top of Windows. It is not a replacement operating system.
Is it another AI model?
No. NexxusOS is the working environment around supported models, with its own workspace, records, tools and controls. The model you choose still affects answer quality and capability.
Can I use it offline?
Supported local workflows run with an installed local model. Initial downloads, web research, cloud providers and connected services need internet access.
What happens when I use a cloud provider?
The content needed for a request you allow is sent to the provider you configured. See the privacy page for what is shared and the provider's own policy. Local-first does not mean cloud requests carry no content.
Can it change files or take actions?
It can carry out supported operations within the permissions you give it. You review the proposed action, approve it, and see the result.
Do I need a particular GPU?
See the requirements page for model-specific local requirements and the separate connected-provider requirements.
Will it remember everything?
NexxusOS keeps workspace records and supported memory that you can review and correct. It is not unlimited context or guaranteed recall.
Does cited research guarantee correctness?
No. Sources and checks make reports easier to inspect, but you should still evaluate important claims yourself.
Which services, formats and systems are supported?
Supported capabilities are confirmed release by release. The product page lists what is described today; NexxusOS Desktop is a Windows application.
What does it cost, and how do updates work?
Access is currently restricted. Confirmed access and commercial details are provided through the early-access process. Optional provider usage is billed by that provider under their terms.
Installation
During early access, NexxusOS Desktop is only available through a personal access link sent by email to approved participants. The installation details for your release come with that link.
- Check the requirements for the way you plan to use NexxusOS.
- Open your personal access link and download the installer for your release.
- If your release is supplied as several files (for example a setup program and its data files), keep them together in the same folder.
- Run the installer and follow the steps on screen.
Windows prompts
Windows may show a security or SmartScreen prompt. Check that the publisher and file name match the details on your access page before you continue. Never disable your antivirus or Windows security to install NexxusOS. If something doesn't look right, stop and contact support.
First run
- Choose a name for your assistant.
- Choose a model route: a supported local model, a provider you configure, or both.
- Select the folders or files you want to include. Nothing is included until you choose it.
- Try a small request and look at what was saved to your workspace.
Troubleshooting
- Access link says it has expired. Access links are time-limited. Contact support for a new one.
- Download didn't start. Use the direct link shown on your access page. Direct links expire after a few minutes, so press the download button again for a fresh one.
- A local model is slow or won't load. Local performance depends on the model and your hardware. Try a smaller supported model, or a configured provider.
